Structure-Function Network Mapping and Its Assessment via Persistent Homology
Understanding the relationship between brain structure and function is a fundamental problem in network neuroscience. This work deals with the general method of structure-function mapping at the whole-brain level. We formulate the problem as a topological mapping of structure-function connectivity via matrix function, and find a stable solution by exploiting a regularization procedure to cope w...
متن کاملMapping Powerlists onto Hypercubes
The theory of powerlists was recently introduced by Jay Misra. It gives us the ability to specify and verify certain parallel algorithms and connection structures. The notation is similar to sequential functional programming languages (such as Miranda TM Tur86]) but with constructs for expressing balanced division of lists. In the rst part of this work we study how some known algorithms for the...
متن کاملHomology mapping with Markov random fields
1 Background. Evolution through divergence gives rise to different, though related, present-day genomes that shared common ancestors. Portions of genomes could be seen as genomic entities spawned through some dynamic changes in content and order of the ancestral genome. Certain regions, through selection, are conserved over time. Such genomic portions (be they gene-coding regions, conserved non...
متن کاملDirect transfer of graphene onto flexible substrates.
In this paper we explore the direct transfer via lamination of chemical vapor deposition graphene onto different flexible substrates. The transfer method investigated here is fast, simple, and does not require an intermediate transfer membrane, such as polymethylmethacrylate, which needs to be removed afterward. Various substrates of general interest in research and industry were studied in thi...
متن کاملMapping Chainable Continua onto Dendroids
We prove that every chainable continuum can be mapped into a dendroid such that all point-inverses consist of at most three points. In particular, it follows that there exists a finite-to-one map from a hereditarily indecomposable continuum (the pseudoarc) onto hereditarily decomposable continuum. This answers a question by J. Krasinkiewicz.
